Family policies

What families ask us before camp starts.

Photos of your child

We ask your written permission before we share any photo of your child, on this site, in newsletters or on social media, and you can change your answer at any time. We never put a child's name with a photo, and the photos on this site are examples until we replace them with our own.

What to wear and bring

Send layers for a cold morning, a rain jacket, boots, closed shoes, a water bottle, bug spray already on, lunch in a cold pack and a change of clothes. Everything carries your camper's first name. Phones and toys stay home.

The lake hour, sun and cold

Each age group has its own lake hour at the beach and dock. Every camper in or beside the water wears a life jacket, and counselors stay in the shallows. We skip the water when it is too cold or the weather turns, and send sunscreen on already for sunny days.

Drop-off and pickup

An adult on your list signs your camper in and out at the front steps. We ask for ID at pickup until we know you. Tell us ahead of time when someone new is coming.

When to keep your child home

A camper with a fever, vomiting or a contagious illness stays home and returns after a full day of being well. If a camper feels ill at camp, we call you and a counselor stays with them until you arrive.

Meals, snacks and allergies

Families send lunch in a cold pack, and camp serves a morning snack, with a snack from the garden in Week 5. Tell us at registration about allergies, and we ask what we need privately.

Rain, storms and cold days

Light rain doesn't cancel camp: blocks move under the pavilion roof or into the hall. When we hear thunder, everyone goes inside until half an hour has passed. We text families before 7:00 a.m. when the plan changes.

Screens and phones

Phones and tablets stay home. A camper who needs to reach you can use the office phone, and we call you if we need you.
